In the World Cup semi-final, Gary Lineker scored the equalizing goal after the West Germans went up 1 – 0 against England. The game ended in a draw and the West Germans went on to win in the penalty shoot out. Lineker had a great World Cup, scoring four goals in the tournament. This match is also famous for Paul Gascoigne openly weeping after he received the yellow card that would have kept him out of the Final.
